On behalf of the UCD School of Medicine, the HMRG and my co-Chair, Dr Aoife Cotter, it gives me great pleasure to invite you to the inaugural HMRG European HIV Seminar. This two day meeting, based in the heart of Dublin, has a theme ‘Working Towards Healthier Aging in HIV’.
As the life expectancy of people living with HIV (PLWH) approaches that of their HIV-uninfected peers, HIV-health care providers are managing conditions previously outside the normal scope of infectious disease clinicians, such as cardiovascular, metabolic, renal and bone diseases, all of which contribute to a more frail phenotype within this population.
This meeting brings together a distinguished panel of international speakers aligned with local experts who have been at the forefront of important advances in research into ageing in HIV. The meeting will be spread over two days of plenary sessions covering both important clinical and pathogenesis topics relevant to ageing in HIV, which will foster excellent discussion between participants and offer networking opportunities.
This meeting aims to provide those involved in HIV care an opportunity to update and broaden their knowledge in relation to management of ageing in people living with HIV. The meeting will be held in the historic Mater Misericordiae University Hospital campus close to the many enjoyable sites of Dublin, a delightful city to visit in early Summer.
